From self and selfhood’s strangling chain

God set him free; and then again

Clothed him in unsubstantial clay,

That he God’s mysteries might display.

So form from form must be withdrawn

At revelation’s dazzling dawn:

God’s sure and omnipresent will

Shall every heart with rapture fill.
