“Eyes That Love Sunset” (Rumi)

Here comes July, who likes to hear the stories travelers tell, those that journey in full prostration, not the self-important pilgrims.

Listen to one who moves as he or she is led to, with no complaining, who lives in the great heart, like Damascus on the Syrian plain.

Harvest comes with August. Then Ramadan silence and fasting, with eyes that love sunset.

Tell someone in the middle of health and success, This will change to a bout with malaria.

No one but Khidr knows who will prosper and who will not. Remember Muhammad’s boot with the snake inside?

It is good to be quiet. Say less. Those obsessed with gaining recognition

do nothing but talk the entire day.
