“The Decline of the West” by Oswald Spengler. I have mentioned Spengler and I have discussed some of the contents of his book in previous blog posts, including in the last blog post. Obscure and hidden, yet immensely persuasive and influential, Spengler has influenced and shaped the thoughts of a number of prominent thinkers and intellectuals of the West, including Henry Kissinger and Malcolm X. Look him up, and see what you find. Or read his two-volume book. It surely wouldn’t be a waste of time whichever way you cut it.
