“Kamar Barik” – کمر باریک

Lyrics: Lahouti, an Iranian poet. Composition: Tajik and Afghan folklore. Rough translation: “You’re a flower branch, and I’m a dried leaf. You’re the freshness of a laugh, and I’m the coldness of a sad sigh. You’re like the sun, and I’m like an isolated planet seeking to revolve around you. Oh beautiful and slender one, the darkness of my night, come close to me, let’s make peace, enough of the fighting, be kind, oh beautiful slender one. When a person is in love, they shouldn’t be scared of confinement or death or prison, oh beautiful and slender one. The heart of a lover is like a hungry wolf which doesn’t get scared from the shooing of a mere shepherd, oh beautiful and slender one.”
