Book Recommendation, November 8, 2022

“The Back Channel” by Bill Burns. Before becoming the current CIA director, Burns was a career diplomat, and his timespan as a career diplomat for the U.S. foreign service is equal to the number of years I have existed on earth, which goes to show the depth of both his experience and his expertise on the subject of foreign policy and national security. “The Back Channel” contains lots of interesting stories and insights, and all in all, Burns has written the book in a very smooth and thoughtful manner, which in turn redeems and vindicates the role and the significance of diplomacy, dialogue, and general knowledge in the global public sphere.
