“Negine Dast” – نگین دست

Artist: Meraj Wafa. Genre: Afghan Folklore, or Country. Rough Translation: “In the middle of the night, I wake up, from anxiety of the separation from my beloved. Separation from my sweet beloved. What follows is days of illness and pain. I kissed my own ring, and this year, I pledged to keep love alive for as long as it takes. Even if she’s on the other side of the world, and even if she’s in the grip of a lion’s cage, I will reach her, even if it means seeing her just one time. Even if I’m under the Damoclean sword, I will do whatever it takes to see her. It’s all strange, this craziness of the heart. It’s a crazy demand, I know. But it’s all I think about, even when I lay in the depths of the night. And it’s a fair demand.”
