Gramsci also noted that divorce in America is actually highest among the upper class than amongst the lower classes in the United States. Much of it has to do with moral depravity and the decline of moral standards amongst this particular class of people, as Gramsci argued. In turn, any decline in the moral standards of the lower classes has to be attributed to the decline of moral standards amongst the upper class. One is the cause, and the other is the effect.
