“The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The quintessential American novel, which depicts the affairs and drama of New York’s wealthy elite from the viewpoint of an outside observer who gets drawn into their affairs and their drama by happenstance and by accident. As timely as ever before, and one of my favorite novels and stories of all time. And it is a story and a narrative and a style which stuck with me and influenced me throughout my own writing endeavour.
