Sixth footnote to the post titled “The Flawed Logic of Occupation”

No country or government is well-served by serving the interests of another country or government. But as we have seen over the past few decades, the central element of American foreign policy has been to blindly serve Israel, despite the fact that Israel has proven to be one of the most barbaric and brutal states in modern times with its inclination and tendency towards collective punishment, targeting of women and children, constant pushing towards apocalyptic wars, and blatant violations of international law. No country does what Israel does. Yet, the United States gives unconditional support to Israel. In turn, the unconditional support to Israel hurts the power and prestige of the United States, as we see today. Never has the position of the United States been as precarious and shaky as it is now, and much of it has to do with the fact that no country is well-served by serving the interests of another country. In short, serving Israel undermines the basic interests of the United States. Common sense. And surprisingly, common sense is in such short supply nowadays.
