And in a way, it all comes down to just basic common sense, in the sense that if East Asia as a whole were forced to choose between either balance and conflict as a result of American interference or peace and hegemony as a result of China’s rise, East Asia as a whole would choose the latter. Hence, China wields both a psychological and strategic advantage over America in this balance of power competition throughout East Asia.
