Fourth footnote to the post titled “Yellow Peril”

But to what do we specifically attribute China’s new global strategy? The answer is quite simple: American foreign policy. As long as American foreign policy retains its imperialistic and hegemonic character, we will see the same kind of behaviour and strategy coming out of Beijing. In a sense, the new Chinese global strategy is identical with Western colonialism and imperialism. The main difference between the two, however, is that Beijing can learn and apply the lessons needed from the West and not make the same mistakes as the West. In turn, the Chinese colonial and imperial project will be successful, while the West effectively failed. Moreover, the West will not recover from the blunders and the mistakes fast enough. All they have to do in Beijing is simply learn from the Western blunders and mistakes and apply the lessons learned. Beijing can have their cake and eat it too, in the sense that Beijing can retain the cultural and economic dimensions of their strategy, all while keeping the West in check from a diplomatic and political standpoint because of the West’s basic dependence on the East. In the end, it all works out for Beijing.
