In short, and as Mills argued, there is a very small circle of elites who constitute an oligarchy of sorts which then rules over the United States and in turn rules over the West as a whole. Governments in the West are controlled by this oligarchy, mass and mainstream media is designed to distract everyone from this fact and reality, and freedom and rationality amongst the Western public are limited and suppressed. If there is to be further centralization of power, which there will be, it is perhaps going to occur within the oligarchy, to the point where one individual within the oligarchy calls all the shots for the West as a whole.
