About 70 percent of the American population is white. But of the white population in America, a little more than half is of Anglo-Saxon origin. This is perhaps another reason why the Anglos are at the top of the pecking order amongst people of European origin. But of course, ideologically and socially, not even the Anglos are a monolith. In reality, no group is a monolith.
