But with the end of the Western cycle of accumulation and hegemony comes the end of “The Great Game” itself, in the sense that the restructuring of the world system as a result of the end of the Western cycle of accumulation and hegemony could mean the rise of a “world-empire” which is constituted by none other than the Sino-Russian alliance. In fact, the rise of such a “world-empire” which has the Sino-Russian alliance at the heart of it is more than likely, given that state centralization has taken hold of that alliance whereas the West is going through state decentralization. And in “The Great Game” the advantage is always on the side that is going through centralization.
