D.C. Food Recommendation, July 11, 2024

Bub and Pop’s, located on 1815 M St., NW. Hands down, the best sandwich place in the DC-Metro area. Bub and Pop’s actually started in Philadelphia soon after World War II when a famously loving couple (Mae and Irv Wagner, or “Bub and Pop” Wagner) decided they were going to open a deli right after the husband came back from serving in World War II with distinction. Their grandson then reinvented their whole concept here in this area. Some have considered Bub and Pop’s to be the best sandwich place in all of America. I would argue you’d have to go to New York for the best sandwiches in all of America. Nevertheless, and without a doubt, they are the best sandwiches in the DC-Metro area. I had the “Hebrew Hammer” today. In my opinion, the “Hebrew Hammer” is their number two sandwich. Their number one sandwich is the Fried Chicken Cutlet Hoagie sandwich. It’s an Italian deli, after all. Not a Jewish deli. Give it a try. If you don’t give it a try, you’re missing out on the best sandwiches in the whole DC-Metro area.
