In addition to the hypotheses which we confirm or falsify and thus test through certain cases, we infer expectations about the world and how it works from theories as well. In turn, we contemplate and we inquire as to whether the theory meets our basic expectations of reality. If the theory meets our expectations of reality, then the theory becomes credible in our view. And as a result, some theories are more credible than others. There are also some theories which are more basic and fundamental than others, such as monism and dualism. These theories serve as the most basic or fundamental theories and thus serve as the philosophical underpinnings for other theories. Thus, and as in any other case or realm, we have a hierarchy of theories as well.
