To the point about psychology in a digital age versus psychology in a pre-digital age, we attribute social disorder and upheaval to the internet. We place blame on the internet for the social disorder and upheaval we see around the world today. But social disorder and upheaval is nothing new. We have had bouts of social disorder and upheaval throughout history and even before our digital age. Thus, there is no real difference between psychology in a digital age versus psychology in a pre-digital age. One might ask: what about the rise in anxiety and mental illness? One can argue that all of it has to do with the increased risk in danger and trauma. Anxiety is in a sense our barrier to danger and trauma. And that is perhaps how anxiety fits into our overall picture.
