Freud argued that there has to be a distinction made between anxiety, fear, and fright. Anxiety, as Freud argued, is an indicator that danger and trauma are looming. Fear is when you come face-to-face with the source of danger and trauma after going through anxiety. And fright is when you are overcome with danger and trauma without the prerequisite of anxiety and preparation. Fright is when the danger and trauma catches you by surprise. It is an insight into anxiety and mental illness which is still relevant even today.
