Translation, of course, takes away from both the beauty and meaning of the lyrics. Because the lyrics belong to a peculiar and specific milieu. But even when you bring the lyrics out of its peculiar and specific milieu and into the public structure, the lyrics retain the beauty and meaning to a certain extent. Hence, the richness and greatness of Afghan art and culture. The oldest and most ancient art and culture in the world aside from perhaps China.
