Love has an essence too. It has a basic material. And that basic material is light. Light is in fact the basic essence of everything. At the subatomic level, all we are dealing with are particles of light. So he wishes to become a light that burns a candle the way love burns a lover from head to toe. Fixation on the rose (woman) brings him out of what would otherwise be ego narcissism. He gives everything to love. And finally, the reward for going through the rigors of sainthood is the white devil of all things. From an erotic and sexual standpoint, no reward or prize is greater than the white devil. So for the rigors of sainthood, he gets the white devil as a reward or prize.
