I was told months before America’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that they would all disappear. Ashraf Ghani and his clowns and cronies would all disappear. Despite the full backing of what is known as the “international community.” And it happened. They all disappeared. But when I asked why it would happen, how could the world’s largest military and economic power be brought to its knees like that by a ragtag militia, his answer was that “the saints got tired of it.”
