Travel is perhaps a worldly or material allegory or metaphor for a deeper intellectual and spiritual journey, whereby the wanderings of the wayfarer or traveller eventually lead to the final and ultimate heavenly abode. The first stage requires annihilation of partial intellect or ego, in order to give way for the intermediate stage of ‘universal intellect’ which then gives way to the final stage, namely, divine love. Even ‘universal intellect’ or the ‘stream’ is abandoned for the final stage of divine love. Everything is then rendered non-existent in the station or state of divine love. There is a detachment or shunning towards everything outside of the divine heart or divine love.
