Which brings us to “The Kalam Cosmological Argument.” Or Ilm al-kalam. If our chain of causation goes back infinitely, then there is no cause for anything, and that is a logical impossibility. So in order for there to be a cause, the chain of causation has to stop somewhere and not go back infinitely. And that is where we intend to go through the negation of existence. La ilaha il allah (“There is no God but God”) is to declare this negation and thus bring us to this causation.
