Sharing the pie

Four things to keep in mind and to notice about this really interesting chart or graph which tracks each country’s overall share of the world economy and begins in the 1960’s: one, how the Russians and former Soviet Union completely disappear from the picture and completely drop from number two overall, second, how Japan peaked so high in the 1990’s all the way to number two, only to decline so dramatically and rapidly starting in the 2000’s, three, China’s very slow but very steady rise to number two, and four, the ten percent drop in America’s share from 36 percent in the 1960’s to 26 percent now.
