Nor did civil war really erase that notion or idea of an official dialect and official national identity, even though it may have diminished it or rendered it fragile. A lot of it is unconscious, culture will always exist unconsciously, and when it is all unconscious, it cannot help but manifest into reality, given that unconscious reality is reality itself.
