Northern Virginia Food Recommendation, April 12, 2025

“Clarity.” Ranked by certain review and booking sites to be among the top two restaurants in all of Northern Virginia (I’ve been to number one, and it ain’t number one, believe me). “Clarity” used to be women-owned, it used to be owned by four different women, but the owner has now changed. It still very much has the air and the atmosphere of a women-owned restaurant. To stir things up, I went with their four-course tasting menu: first, seared scallop with osetra caviar and parsnip purée and beurre blanc, second, lobster and artichoke and black truffle risotto consisting of arborio rice, 24-month parmesan, thyme, and Vermont country butter, third, Prime NY strip steak cooked medium with jumbo asparagus and pomme purée and crispy shallots and sauce bordelaise, and fourth, for dessert, Pot de Crème consisting of chantilly crème and chocolate nibs. There’s also the choice of a wine and whisky pairing with the four-course tasting menu and to finish with the dessert, the choice of 10-year Tawny Port or Kentucky Dark Rye. This should be God damn interesting to say the least.
