“Jang e Rozgar” – جنگ روزگار

Artist: Ahmad Wali. Composition: Ustad Sarahang. Rough Translation: “No matter where I went and no matter what I did, all roads and indicators led back to you. And whether I’m near or far, I’ll always remain the dirt and fog of the ground and air at your hands and feet. I don’t have the appetite or the patience for the petty culture wars of our day and age, my love. Why risk my life over the petty pride and hubris and morals and ‘honor’ of these petty culture wars? Hearts are cold and dark, but the blood and nerves that run through the body and veins nowadays are tepid and weak. This is how people are nowadays. Evil and stupid. Oh you who bully and trash the weak and the vulnerable: do you not remember when you were in their position not so long ago? Nor am I really interested in what anyone has to say. I’m not convinced. I’m not impressed. They’re all cruel. They don’t know what love is. All they’ve really done is taken up the color and hue of our day and age: Green. Nothing exceptional. Nothing special.”
