DC Food Recommendation, May 7, 2025

“Fitzgerald’s.” Right next door to the previous food recommendation – 1789 – in Georgetown. But interestingly, both ‘Fitzgerald’s’ and ‘1789’ are part of the broader ‘Clyde’s Restaurant Group’ here in the DC-Metro Area. They are perhaps the most famous restaurant group in this area aside from the famous ‘Great American Restaurants’ group. Anyone who has ever walked on M Street in Georgetown has either gone to ‘Clyde’s’ or has seen it. It’s the most famous restaurant on M Street in Georgetown. If you haven’t either been to ‘Clyde’s’ or seen it while on M Street, it means you’re either blind or you’ve been sleepwalking all this time.
While its neighbor ‘1789’ has more of a classic early republic look, we get a 1920’s Gilded and Jazz Age look at ‘Fitzgerald’s.’ It’s all about the evolution of America itself. We have “Tombs” next door as well. After all, the restaurant is named after one of America’s greatest novelists and writers of that particular era, F. Scott Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is most famous and renowned for his authorship of “The Great Gatsby” – the theme of which is the all-too familiar clash between the Manhattan old money and nouveau riche which then ends miserably and tragically for all the parties involved. Sound familiar? The menu is brief, it’s a small bite and drink menu, the drink menu is quite extensive. I ordered Korean chicken wings and the ‘F. Scott Burger’ with its secret sauce. Coincidentally, it’s Koreans and creativity which got me through this whole ordeal. You won’t be getting a review. You don’t really review wings and a burger. I will leave that to the social media cheapskates. But just assume that it’s delicious. Because it is.
