“B Side” (The Review)

The small side Caesar salad was so creamy and crisp, the dressing had a lemon flavor, and the croutons were tiny and crunchy and flavorful and tasty. And what to say about the Chicago Italian beef? Better than the one I had at Portillo’s in Chicago. The beef jus came on the side as a dipping juice or dipping sauce for the sandwich. It all just melts in your mouth once you bite through the hard and crisp outside of the hoagie roll and get to the soft and fluffy inside. The contrast between the hard, crispy outside and the soft, fluffy inside was noteworthy. And then the pickled veggies just give it a nice sour kick in your mouth, and of course the flavor of the red beef jus just hits you in the face. It takes over. It pretty much takes over. It drowns the sandwich. And once you’re through with all of it, you either just want to relax and sleep like a baby or have a nice dessert with coffee or tea. I’ll be back for their famous smashburger. You can bet on it. Staff is very friendly and considerate. Beautiful bar. Music. What more can you ask for? This place leaves you feeling ‘true to yourself.’ No faking it and turning blue in the face for carrots and sweeteners and hand-me-downs and trickle downs.
