“Hama Masto Kharab”

Artist: Ali Etemadi. Lyrics: Sufi Poetry (Afghan Mysticism). Genre: Qawwali. Rough Translation: “I never figured out what this war of religion against religion is all about. It’s the one and same creator that brought all of them to life. We’re all wild and fucked up, but in God we trust. May God save us all. We’re as drunk and insane as can possibly be. In God we trust. May God save us all. We’re all burning alive and melting in this occidental inferno and hell and whirlwind and fire. We are all in need of these mystical secrets and nuggets of wisdom. Our hearts and minds yearn for it, even if we don’t admit it and are not upfront about it. In God we trust. May God save us all. Some are in search and in pursuit of this material world. Some are in search and in pursuit of the ultimate truth. But either way, both are ultimately absorbed in hollow and shallow appearances and a mere and trifling illusion. In God we trust. May God save us all.”
