“Kharabat” بخرابات
“Kharabat” خرابات has a dual meaning, and is coincidentally one of my favorite words in the entire Dari or Farsi language. It can either mean letting go and letting God, letting loose and taking it easy, drinking and smoking a blunt and listening to music or playing it, or it can refer to the historical musician’s alley in Kabul which housed an entire tradition of art and music and poetry and literature. America is now acquainted with “Kharabat” in both aspects or dimensions of the word.
