Given the dire circumstances and the dire situation which the libido faces from the external world, the libido is left with no choice but to conquer the external world as Freud put it. Hence, the Shakespearean notion of the ‘Fair Youth’ as a mad tyrant and so forth. And as Plato argued, after aristocracy and land-owning elites and oligarchy, there can only be angry and irrational populism, and after angry and irrational populism, there can only be tyranny. A tyrant. The libido is left with no choice but to conquer the external world and become a tyrant over it.
