“Khoram An Roz” – خرم آن روز

Artist: Said Omar. Poem: Hafez Shirazi. Rough Translation: “I’ll be content and satisfied the day I’ll be able to break free from these Occidental ruins and leave them safely. It’ll enable me to attain peace of mind and escape the grip and the trap of the beloved as well. And even though I know for a fact that following the ways of the Westerner and dealing with them won’t do me any good overall, I’ll do it just to get a whiff from the scent of the beloved’s beautiful hair. Her beautiful hair is worth it. The overall climate is such that I’m exhausted and impatient. Everyone is. But what keeps me going is the way the beloved struts and talks. It’s time to drop the pen and the philosophizing and perhaps head to the beloved with this broken heart and these tears in eyes. In the end, I gave everything I had to everyone altruistically and charitably in hopes that I come out of the melancholy and pain, and in turn head to the beloved in a drunken, happy, and singing mood.”
