Closeness to God. Chosen by God. Dionysus was not only close to Zeus, he was his son after all, but he resembled him greatly as well. He is at times knows as “Young Zeus.” Not only close to God, but resemble him as well. The initiate acquires God’s attributes and characteristics as well.
