Now that we’ve finally made it to Charlotte, I think a recap of sorts would be in order. So the ride from my house to the resort was a very idyllic and pleasant ride along the mountains. Then there was of course the mineral bath, which was really nice, the resort itself offered great food options, but the road which connected the resort to the outskirts of the nearest big city – Roanoke – was by far the worst road I’ve ever driven on in my entire life. And of course, I’ve driven on bad roads before. The worst was when I went out into the countryside in Afghanistan when I was a teenager, but that doesn’t even compare to this one. “McGraw Gap.” Holy hell. Holy fucking hell. So “McGraw Gap” connects you from the resort to the outskirts of Roanoke, and from the outskirts of Roanoke, you’re back on an actual interstate. My wife was traumatized. She never wants to get off on an exit for the rest of her life. She just wants to be on an interstate to feel safe. No pun intended on “Fancy Gap.” Which was less than ten minutes from the North Carolina border. “Fancy Gap” conjures up all sorts of ideas and thoughts. And then after crossing the North Carolina border, in about an hour and a half, we are now in Charlotte. “The Queen City.” But what I’d like to know more than anything else is of course the food scene. Does Charlotte have much of a food scene? And if so, what stands out about it? How much of a food scene does it actually have? It went from a business trip to an adventure. Plus, it’s always fun to find out these kinds of random things. In all honesty, I could not find much about it when looking it up. But let’s see what we can scavenge. After a brief recovery, we will hit the first of what the food scene here in Charlotte has to offer.
