Summer Road Trip, 2025 (Verse Twelve)

One thing we should perhaps note here is that while the American South obviously does not have the decadence and luxury of the Liberal Northeast, it has its own kind of attraction and charm. It would be hard to say that it’s just plain and simple. Underneath it all is attraction and charm. And perhaps the best of it I could find in terms of the food scene here in Charlotte is “Mico” at the Grand Bohemian Hotel, which is owned by a man named Richard Kessler, a Southern entrepreneur and patron of the arts in his own right. Argentinian flair meets the American South. International flavor has in fact made its way to this particular region of the United States. It ain’t as xenophobic as we make it seem. The American South is not the bogeyman or monster we make it seem. It’s actually very charming and sophisticated.
For dinner, lobster bisque, with the chermoula roasted lamb loin. A break from the ordinary. You’ll get the review shortly.
