“Ay Dil Jahan” – ای دل جهان

Poem: Amir Khusrau. Rough Translation: “Poor heart, if you end up conquering the whole wide world, great. If not, who cares? If the whole wide world and even if the whole of the universe were to be all yours, if you were to conquer it all, great. If not, who cares? And if you were to pick off a few beautiful women here and there, great. If not, who cares? The lover took on a superpower and beat it, in hopes of winning over the beloved. If you end up winning over the beloved, great. If not, who cares? But whatever you do, and no matter what happens, make sure to never forget the mystics and the saints who brought you to where you are now. The ones who made you into what you are now. And if they ever give you a taste of their drunkenness and spiritual ecstasy again, great. But if not, who cares?”
