Nothing beats the original. But some renditions are very beautiful too. Sometimes even better than the original. And this is one of them. By Ehsan Aman, a very popular Afghan artist and vocalist in the Afghan diaspora here in Northern Virginia. He was also high school friends with my mother and her best friend. They used to have hangouts in Kabul when they were in high school, the way any high school student would anywhere else. They were very liberal and progressive. Ahead of their time as a matter of fact. He has a very beautiful voice we should note. It’s hard to overlook certain things, and this rendition of the original is one of them.
