Third Note to “Beman Ay Shab”

To borrow from Camus yet again: “[Art] is the outcome of an often unexpressed philosophy, its illustration and its consummation. But it is complete only through the implications of that philosophy. It justifies at last that variant of an old theme that a little thought estranges from life whereas much thought reconciles to life.”

He added: “If the world were clear, art would not exist.”

Or to borrow from Nietzsche: “Art and nothing but art, we have art in order not to die of the truth.”

But more significantly, art both creates and shapes the world while describing it and explaining it. The task or the work of the artist is to create, shape, describe, and explain the world. But in order for the artist to achieve the creation and shaping and description and explanation of the world through his or her artwork, the artist must have experienced and known the world to a certain degree or extent which surpasses the experience and knowledge of his or her contemporaries and counterparts.
