And in the very end, not only does the blasphemy of God giving birth to a child get eclipsed and overshadowed, but the “intellectual love of God” or the “impartial love of humanity” which was supposed to serve as a bridge or common denominator between East and West is also eclipsed and overshadowed by balance-of-power logic and war between East and West. “War is the father of all.” And as Camus argued: “It is merely a matter of being faithful to the rule of the battle. That thought may suffice to sustain a mind; it has supported and still supports whole civilizations. War cannot be negated. One must live it or die of it.”
