This song brings back two very peculiar and subtle memories from my teenage years and college years. One was of a childhood friend and later a college classmate whom I vividly recall bringing it up while we were goofing around one day on campus. And another takes me back to what one Afghan professor and television personality whom I followed quite closely while I was in college would bring up during virtually every single one of his lectures or talks, which was that the one and only question which guided him and led him throughout his whole intellectual and philosophical pursuit or quest was the question of whether God was good or evil. So with the kind of patience and mercy he has, he must be good! Otherwise, why not blow everyone up into smithereens with an asteroid or a UFO drone or something because of all this sin we witness on a daily basis? I always appreciated not only this song but the entirety of Ahmad Zahir’s artistic output, but not as much as I do now. You appreciate all of it much more with time.
