Third Note to “Death Before Dying”

One European intellectual said: “Death and the Sun are not to be looked at steadily.”

Whether we examined or looked at the issue or subject steadily or not is perhaps something for others to judge. But we examined and looked at it nonetheless, and we examined it and looked at it as a result or an outcome of an artistic and literary refinement and sophistication enabled and facilitated by a certain level of asceticism and self-chastisement. In other words, it takes an acquired taste to delve into such an issue or subject, especially at this particular age when you’re supposed to be enjoying and indulging.
