Psychoanalysis leads us to structure. Then, structure leads us to history. And then, history leads us to a theory of history. And it’s our theory of history that explains everything in the social world. Thus, to borrow from Mearsheimer, the “trick” in public discourse or discourse in international society is to have a sound theory of history down. And that takes energy, money, resources, and time to develop. It doesn’t happen rapidly or suddenly.
