The manner by which the West or the Occident distorted and retarded the exploration and study of the East or the Orient was best described and explained by the late Edward Said in his magnum opus and perhaps the most famous humanities and social science book in modern times titled “Orientalism.”
In sum, all culminates into the exploration and study of culture and history, and ours is a distorted and retarded one.
