But as we’ve mentioned before, the international system is not an American unipolar system. Rather, it’s a multipolar Cold War system characterized by pushback against Washington from Moscow and Beijing and Tehran. So if Washington seeks to control the whole wide world, first and foremost by controlling Asia through Pakistan, the Middle East through Israel, Russia and Eastern Europe through Ukraine, and Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean through military dictators and criminal gangs, Washington will then face pushback from Moscow and Beijing and perhaps even Tehran, given that the world is no longer an American unipolar world, but rather, it is now a multipolar ‘Cold War’ world whereby Moscow and Beijing and even Tehran are also very important agents or players. It ain’t just Washington who’s important.
