“Enrichment” – to borrow from Marx – and the never-ending conquest and subjugation that comes with it serves as our basic lifestyle and social organization as opposed to the “high thinking, plain living” of DuBois which would make the attainment and achievement of happiness and survival far easier and manageable. All of this is then perpetuated through discourse. It is discourse which keeps the basic lifestyle and social organization of state and society intact. All that is necessary and needed for change and reform, therefore, is the introduction or the insertion of discourse into the public realm or public sphere.
