And when just three individuals supposedly own half of the nation’s wealth, what is one supposed to expect in terms of economic and political and social outcomes? About 80 to 90 percent of Americans depend on someone else’s wealth for their income or paycheck. Only about 10 to 20 percent of Americans live off of their own private and personal wealth. We are overlooking the role of money as a determinant of social reality amidst all the other shenanigans and distractions. And it shouldn’t be overlooked. It should perhaps be the focus.
