Coming together to will or power oneself out of a crisis and dilemma and mess is called a “social contract.” Absent of a “social contract” is a Hobbesian “state of nature” and thus conflict and war. And you come out of conflict and war and a Hobbesian state of nature and thus forging a “social contract” with others by giving up part of what you have for your own self-preservation and for the greater good. And it is all socially constructed. It isn’t done through force. It is a matter of individuals and groups coming together to see eye to eye on the condition and situation they find themselves in. But it takes effort and work. It’s a fight and struggle.
