Energy healing of a sexual nature and “free association” of an intellectual nature are the core set of psychoanalytical methods and techniques used to get us to where we need to be in terms of striking a proper balance between the ascetic and hedonistic needs and impulses of the human mind or psyche. Hence, the Kama Sutra of ancient times and so forth. “Logotherapy” – or “bibliotherapy” – and meditation are perhaps complementary methods and techniques. But in the end, and regardless of the primary methods and techniques used, it is all very much about striking the proper balance between the ascetic and hedonistic needs and impulses of the human mind or psyche. And it may or may not occur to us how much energy and time and money and resources are needed to simply calibrate a very delicate and subtle balance between the ascetic and hedonistic needs and impulses of the human mind or psyche. It requires lots and lots of effort and focus. It takes years – and perhaps even decades in certain cases – to get to where one needs to be in terms of this very delicate and subtle balance between the ascetic and hedonistic dimensions or the ascetic and hedonistic needs and impulses of the human mind or psyche.
