Habib Qaderi is first cousins with my dearest friend here in Northern Virginia. My friend’s father is brothers with Habib Qaderi’s mother, and from his mother’s side, my friend is a descendant of who was essentially the patriarch of the Zekrya clan, Fazel Ahmad Nainawaz, who in turn was the musical guru of the legendary Ahmad Zahir.
A lot of my content spills forth from a deep sense of nostalgia and melancholy as a result of a longing and reminiscence of the past. As Freud said, subconsciously and unconsciously, we are seeking complete satisfaction and a repetition of the past. But Freud also said that prohibition owes its existence to impulse. And as a result, with every discharge of content and material or with every impulsive act of discharging and releasing subconscious and unconscious content and material, we get ever closer to the forbidden act.
